History :
The Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF)
Center is established in the Cotton College in
June, 2008 with the financial support from the
Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, New
Delhi. The objective of the Centre is to provide
infrastructural facility for utilization of Bioinformatics
for understanding, study and development of Life
science and different branches of Biological science.
The target area for providing service is the in-house
as well as outside and guest students, faculty
and research scholars of Biological and allied
branches of science.

Facilities :
The Center is equipped with two high capacity
Broadband independent servers and connected simultaneously
with both BSNL and Sify high-speed Broadband Internet
connections as well as the Cotton College website
and is routed to ten independent PC terminals
accessible to individual users either independently
or as batch activity. The setup is capable of
functioning twenty four hours a day and is backed
up with uninterrupted servo stabilized power supply
system.
Activities :
Along with the primary function of providing Bioinformatics
Infrastructure Facility, the Center also holds
periodical workshop and training programmes for
sensitization and exposure to Bioinformatics tools
and sites to the interested newcomers in this
field as well as holding and organizing advanced
training schedules with interactive participation
of National and Regional resource persons and
practicing Bioinformatics under the target area.
